Understanding your contributions/ payments towards:

 

Public space security (‘PSS’)

Private armed response services

What is it?

Active interaction in our public space (the space outside your property) including:

  • Two dedicated Beagle Watch patrol vehicles in our suburb
  • A network of >50 cameras (licence plate recognition/ monitored/ static recording)

Armed response services to your private residence e.g.:

  • Responding to alarm activations
  • Responding to panic signals

Contracted by the HGC?

  • HGC has contracted with Beagle Watch to manage our PSS
    • No, HGC does not dictate your choice of private armed response company 
 

Public benefit organisation?

  • Yes
  • Contributions to HGC are fully tax deductible (you receive a s18A certificate annually)
    • No
    • Payments for private armed response are not tax deductible
 

Paid to

  • The HGC
  • We need to receive your contribution directly in order to issue your s18A certificate 
    • Directly to your armed response company
 

Contribution/ fee amount

  • Recommended contribution = R950 per household
    • Set by your armed response company
 

If you have contracted Beagle Watch as your private armed response company

  • R950 contributions made to HGC 
    • R705 per month for HGC contributors
    • R1 655 per month for Non-HGC contributors
 

Why is your private armed response fee to Beagle influenced by whether or not you are an HGC contributor?

  • Private armed response uses PSS vehicles/ officers on patrol which greatly increases response times/ quality of services to private households
  • Pricing structure is designed to ensure equitable financial distribution amongst residents who receive services from Beagle
