HGC,Tiber and private donations to help fence off Spruit from William Nicol

The HGC, Tiber and private individuals are putting forward the proposal to fence open sections of William Nicol.

The intent is to restrict access to areas of the spruit currently occupied by displaced groups, without adversely impacting the accessibility to legitimate users.

The area between Rosehaven retirement village and the Total filling station will be fully enclosed with Clearvu fence, with a locked access gate adjacent to the Total to ensure Eskom and other service access to the servitude.

The second area covers the span bween Minerva road the first boundary wall on the west side of the spruit. This span will have two pedestrian access points with limited width to reduce the accessibility to recyclers.

The commercial model still requires finalisation, but in the interim we require principle approval from the affected residents.

If you have any principle objections to the proposed fencing please send an email to environment@hurlingham.org.za stating the specifics of the objection.

Similar fencing of George Lea has shown a great improvement to the area, and we believe this is a step in the right direction to rehabilitate the area.
