2017/2018 Capital and Operational budget - How Ward 102 is affected
Dear Residents and Stakeholders
The City of Johannesburg full Council has approved the 2017/2018 operational and capital budget (1 July 2017 to end June 2018). This is the first full year budget that the new administration, lead by the Democratic Alliance Executive Mayor, Councillor Herman Mashaba has tabled, with approval for implementation.
Whilst not every capital request received will see reality, herewith the capital line items with allocated rand budget for the 2017/2018 financial year, starting 1 July 2017 which will have an impact on Ward 102.
 Johannesburg Social Housing Project - Development of Social Housing at the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Selkirk Avenue in the Randburg CBD - R30 million.
 Social Development - Shelters for Displaced Peoples Skills Development Centre - R9.5 million (sites to still be identified).
 Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department - Renovation and extension of the Randburg Licence Centre - R1.3 million.
 Johannesburg Property Company - Randburg CBD building alternations - R3 million.
 Johannesburg Development Agency - Randburg CBD regeneration (public infrastructure upgrade phase 2) - R30 million.
 Johannesburg Roads Agency - Conrad Drive Bridge renewal - R3 million.
We look forward to the allocation of capital budget to City entities, and departments and the resultant service delivery from these entities.
Below are just some of the key entities and departments operational budgets for 2017/2018:
From 1 July 2017 there will be increases in the monthly or unit cost of refuse, rates, sewer, water, electricity, bus services, use of City facilities, the zoo etc. More information will be published by the City relating to these increase in due course.
