As the year hurtles to an end with deadlines to beat, deals to close, and the usual barrage of year-end parties and prize givings, it’s time for our final update of the year.

This month saw a big reduction in security incidents from 9 to 4 incidents for the month of November. A number of factors played a role in this, including co-operation and information sharing between residents, SAPS and CSS. Click here to read about the individual incidents and arrest of suspects.
Through the incredible cooperation of so many of you we were able to secure sufficient funding to fence the area near Rosehaven and the Total garage. The City has provided approval in principle for the fence, but because of the fence's proximity to the river we need final environmental approval. The HGC has been interacting with the relevant authorities and we are hopeful that the approval will be granted in time so that the fence can go up before the builders' holiday on 16 December. We will keep you updated as soon as that approval is granted. In the meantime, a gate will be erected at the currently open entrance in the suburb's palisade fencing near Stafford Avenue to try to control access between the suburb and the Spruit. This will be locked at night and monitored by a security camera.
What’s clear is that your security is dependent on that of your neighbouring properties, so residents with building sites next door to them need to be extra vigilant. Arming your security system and beams is essential!
